2025 Income Tax Return for Migrants Available from 1 May 2026
Taxpayers who emigrated from or immigrated to the Netherlands in 2025 can file their 2025 personal income tax return between 1 May and 1 July 2026. The M-form (migration tax return form) will not be available to migrants from 1 March this year, but two months later.
Extension Options
If needed, an extension can be requested either personally or through a tax adviser.
Requesting an Extension Yourself
- Until 1 May 2026 via Mijn Belastingdienst (online tax portal of the Belastingdienst)
- Until 1 July 2026 via the Tax Information Line (BelastingTelefoon) or in writing
In both cases, the extension will be granted until 1 November 2026.
Extension via a Tax Adviser
Under the so-called “becon extension scheme” for tax advisers, an extension can be requested until 1 May 2027.
Response from the Dutch Tax Authorities
Within three months after filing the return, the taxpayer will receive a notice from the Belastingdienst.
